Upon your arrival in Dehradun early in the morning, embark on a scenic drive to Barkot, covering approximately 150 km over 6-7 hours. The journey takes you through the lush hills of Mussoorie, where you can stop to admire the breathtaking views and visit the famous Kempty Falls. As you continue your drive, enjoy the stunning landscapes of the Garhwal region. On reaching Barkot, check into your hotel and relax for the evening. Barkot is a serene town nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, making it a perfect place to rest before your trek to Yamunotri. Overnight stay in Barkot.
Day 2: Barkot – Yamunotri Darshan – Return to Barkot
After an early breakfast, drive towards Janki Chatti, which is the base point for the Yamunotri trek. From here, begin the 6 km trek to Yamunotri, either on foot, by pony, or by a palanquin (available on rent). As you ascend, take in the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and rivers. Upon reaching Yamunotri, visit the sacred Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, and take a holy dip in the thermal springs at Surya Kund. Day 3: Barkot – Return to Dehradun
Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast before starting your journey back to Dehradun. The return drive will once again take you through the scenic landscapes of the Garhwal hills. On arrival in Dehradun, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. You can explore local markets or enjoy some quiet time after the long journey. Overnight stay in Dehradun.
Day 4: Departure from Dehradun
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed with your onward journey. If time permits, you can explore some local attractions in Dehradun, such as Robber’s Cave or Tapkeshwar Temple, before your departure. The Yamunotri Yatra concludes with divine blessings and memories of the serene Himalayan beauty.
